Sotheby's upcoming Important Watches auction, set to begin on November 10th, has some interesting pieces up for sale outside of the classic few brands.
First up there is a stunning, limited edition 1997 Cartier Mystery pocket watch in 18k pink gold. This Cartier Mystery, the second out of 150, has what appear to be 'floating hands' as the gears are hidden by the watch's case. Cartier's history with mystery watches, such as this one, goes back to the early 20th century - to their 1912 Model A clock.
Then there are also a couple interesting A. Lange & Söhne watches, namely a platinum Datograph Up/Down ref. 405.035 from 2016 and a yellow gold Lange 1 ref. 101.021 from 2001. While the Datograph is in itself technically very impressive, a 46-jewel mechanical flyback chronograph with a digital date display, powered by the in-house Cal. L951.6. It is also an interesting reference of A. Lange & Söhne Datograph for being made in platinum.

The Lange 1 on the other hand dates all the way back to 2001, with the Lange 1 being one of the original models released by A. Lange & Söhne after the brand was re-launched in 1994. This watch is powered by the 53-jewel Cal. L901.0 and also has a digital date display and power reserve indicator. While not as sought after as the Datograph it is still a worthwhile Lange, on the cusp of becoming vintage.
